Q: New apple magic keyboard's function keys don't work

Apple clearly states that the new keyboard, mouse, and trackpad require OS X 10.11. Either upgrade to El-Cap, live with the limitations you've discovered and continue on 10.10, or return the keyboard for a refund.

I am running El Capitan on my iMac 2013, but the function keys don't work either. When I press F1- F12, there is just a sound  "ting ting"  that indicates they mean nothing. Please help to fix this problem!! Cuz the keyboard ain't cheap!!

Also, the Magic Keyboard Caps Lock doesn't light up in Windows 10 when I press it, but it actually works, I just cannot tell whether it is capitalized....Could anyone tell me why...?

Is this on Windows running on a Mac or OS X on a Mac?

Yup. You're right. Pretty funny though. I cannot bump to 10.11 because of a VPN and some other problems. But my spanky new keyboard won't work until I do. I guess it's a $100 paperweight until El Capitan gets promoted (patched).

sorry I didn't make it clear enough, I have 2 problems on my iMac late 2013 (One device only):

1. On OSX 10.11 El Capitan, those function keys don't work properly;

2. On Windows 10 running on it by Bootcamp, the cap locks doesn't light up.

And I found out last night that, the magic keyboard run perfectly on my Macbook Pro 2015, so it must be the software issues on my iMac.

Anyone can help?

Check for the settings in Control Panel -> System -> Boot Camp -> Trackpad for settings. You do not have the correct Keyboard driver.

Does Apple push the correct drivers for Magic Keyboard to the Windows 10? If not, where can I find it??

Run Apple Software Update on Windows. Do you have Apple Keyboard driver installed?

I run it already, nothing new showed up for me.

It is Magic Keyboard, not the old wireless one, I am not sure whether Apple or Microsoft has that driver written yet....

Use the USB-to-Lighting cable and connect it to the Mac and use it as a USB keyboard. You have an older version of BT which does not fully support your keyboard.

Well, I guess so, the new products run at BT 4.2.

But USB-to-Lighting cable works only as charger for Magic KB, not as a connector for functioning, as the Apple Genius told me...so wired them together doesn't make things better...I tried.

If you are within the Return period, return it. (Apple will also sell you a brand new 2015 model Mac for your keyboard to work with. )
