Q: iMac 17 inch (late 2006), hard drive ok, dead screen : how to transfer content to another identical iMac ?

The screen of my  mother's old iMac (17 inch, late 2006) just died. The hard drive is ok (we can hear the start up jingle and all).

I found an identical iMac and would like to link the two so I could transfer her files.

I'm thinking Ethernet cable. But from there, how do I get to 'SEE' the hard drive of the now blind iMac on the desktop of the still good iMac ? Is my question clear ?

(I love my mother and would gladly buy her a new Mac, but my mother being 89 yo, I am going with an identical iMac to minimize any learning curve that would be caused by changes in her set up on the Mac. Trying to keep same OS, same set up, same version of softwares, etc.)

I am tackling that job this afternoon. So any help regarding the logic aspect of this would be wonderful!
