Are there any albums at all in your sidebar?

If not, your albums may be hidden.  Hover the pointer to the right of the word "Albums" in the sidebar, until you are seeing the hidden show/hide button.

Can you unhide more albums this way?

If not, check, if you migrated the correct iPhoto Library. If Photos could not open your iPhoto library, it might have upgraded a different library.

Yes there were two albums listed already.  None entitled iPhoto events.

It seems that it migrated the correct iPhoto library as I only had the one.  It showed last modified to the iPhoto file on the date that I upgraded.  And all photos seem to be there.  I didn't realize iPhoto was still on the mac.  I was actually able to open that iPhotos file and the events are still there and intact.

How should I get these to transfer to albums in photos?

And thanks leonie!  You have been all over this issue as I have tried all of your tips from your previous posts!!

Make a backup copy of your iPhoto Library, just in case, and then rebuild the iPhoto and try to migrate it again.

To rebuild the library, see Old Toad's post here.  https://discussions.apple.com/message/22114274#22114274

After you rebuild the library, drag it onto the Photos icon to migrate it again.  Can you se now your albums?

Okay.  So redid everything and the iPhoto event folder is listed in the Albums section.  I try to select all and do the move out of events to make them albums but I don't have that as an option?

How do I get them out of events and to albums so I do not repeat the problem?

They are albums now - iPhoto Events is a folder holding albums matching your iPhoto events - like any other album you can drag them to a new location or resort them using the view menu ==> sort

Yes!  Okay, so now I have two photos libraries.  Photos library and Photos library 2.  I selected the Photos library 2 (the one with the converted events to albums) to be the system photo library.  It is missing newer photos of last month and it is trying to reupload all 40,000 pictures that already exist in iCloud.  Do I just need to rename photos library 2 to photos library?
