Q: ''Sim Not Valid'' on activation screen! *PLEASE HELP*

I have purchased the iPhone 6 64GB Silver from Verizon Wireless. I purchased it on November 18th 2014 and i was able to use the phone under the Verizon Network for 2 days I asked Verizon as ALWAYS to have to Unlocked because i was leaving the country in business trip for a week and therefor i wanted to use my iPhone with the Vodafone Network as i have always done this with the previous iPhone's under Verizon network. When i had my iPhone 5 & iPhone 5S i have called Verizon to have it unlocked and therefor they have done it, but now with the new iPhone 6 they tell me that its a 4G Phone and its already unlocked sir, there is nothing they can do to unlock it any further but in reality the iPhone 6 its Lock to Verizon Wireless Network, according to Apple, and Vodafone they both say that its Locked to Verizon Wireless, that's what it shows in their system. Now i have called Verizon and asked them again to unlock my iPhone which they insist and tell me the same thing over and over even their Manager and Global Team Support including the Supervisors they all say the same thing that the iPhone is Unlocked!!!! Now i have contacted Apple again this time Apple said that it is locked to Verizon is what they see on their computer that this IME#354409063763754  is showing Locked to Verizon once again and again and AGAIN! so who is lying here Apple or Verizon?!? Interesting! one of the Apple costumer care could not believe my story after speaking to 5 different one from Apple and 38 different from Verizon, and there for she decided to call Verizon and find out why aren't they unlocking my device. now, after being on the phone 3 way me Apple care and Verizon for 15min Verizon hangs up the phone on Apples face and tells me I can Not Believe they hang up on my face! interesting huh? Well Apple care then said ill transfer you to Seignior Adviser for further help there is nothing that she could do, but transfer me to much higher grade in helping the costumers. Now the Seignior Adviser couldn't  believe that i had to go through all this and said I'm here to help and i will help, i said sure you will, will see how much you can. Then he tries and tries and in the end NOTHING! since he couldn't do anything he said let me transfer you to much higher which is their Consumer Relations. Now they couldn't believe that i had to go through all this and that they have never heard such story that this had happen to anyone before, there for he was going to help me resolve my issue. Now they have contacted Verizon and Verizon keeps saying the same thing mean while on the Apple system it still shows Locked to Verizon Wireless.

Now what they Verizon and Apple did to try and resolve this issue is Connecting my iPhone 6 to iTunes and have it Factory Restore! ok! so i did as i was told,

now after 30 min of restoring the iPhone to factory settings im back to Activation Screen from beginning.

1. Choose Language - English

2. Choose Region - United States

3. Choose Wi-Fi

4. Sim Not Valid!

there is no other options, either go back or retry, and none has worked. I have done the Restore 5 times with and with out sim card  and still same error,

With out the sim card, after choose the Wi-Fi, it says Sim Required, there is no other options only go back and retry.

I put the sim back in and its still says the same

The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone s from a carrier that is not Supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.

Try Again

Now i cant even go to my home screen what do i do? PLEASE HEP!

I really need to get this iPhone 6 to work, I need help please someone help, they both companies have lied to me Verizon and Apple, and they both not doing a **** thing about it, its been almost 2 months and i haven't been able to enjoy my iPhone, they have got my hard earned $$$$ and they don't send me a new device to have it replaced, I have requested a NEW one since i  have paid for new and they Sorry we cant under their Policy and my 14 money back  is expired, well its expired because of them not me. they keep on pushing and putting me to wait here and there so time went out and me still without a working device yet they have got my money $$$

sir  Lawrence from what I see, you don't follow the conversation, if we all say that the phone is unlocked in the us and locked for the international don't you think we migh be right? I have the same problem with an iPhone 6 64 gb bought originaly from Apple Store as sim free, I had it replaced one time and now is not working internationally. they still can't do anything so far. and I had this kind of problem before with a phone being looked in USA, I had iPhone 4s bought from sprint with a GSM slot and was not working in the USA except sprint cmda but was working just fine in Europe any network .

While it is technologically feasible to lock or unlock an iPhone for specific geographies phones sold as unlocked directly by Apple are unlocked worldwide. And any replacement for an unlocked phone obtained directly from Apple should be unlocked worldwide. If it isn't someone made a mistake and you should take it back to where you exchanged it.  Or call Apple. This also applies to any phone unlocked by the carrier it was locked to.

It it does NOT apply to a phone not purchased from Apple or unlocked by anyone other than the carrier the original phone was locked to.

No. You are not right. That is not how iPhone locking works.

Sprint is a CDMA carrier. For quite some time, it has been Sprint's policy that they will not unlock phones for use on any other US carrier. A Sprint iPhone 4S can not be used on any US carrier other than Sprint. If Sprint agrees to unlock it, which they will only do for a current Sprint customer in good standing, it will only work on Non-US GSM carriers.

If you are not s Sprint customer, you never should have purchased a Sprint phone.

the Sprint phone was just an another example that some phones can be unlocked for some geographic area and locked for some others, that one was old thing and I did not have any problem because i did not buy the phone from sprint to use in any other US network, it  bought it to use for international and was working.CASE CLOSED.

My problem from now is that the currently iphone 6 is locked somehow on verizon, this what apple told me and verizon said to me that is not locked on verizon. and now that phone is somewhere in europe and my dad can't use it. probably the only think I can do is to have the phone return to apple and send me a new that is really unlocked for international use. but is gonna to cost me at least 200$ for the shipping back and forth

LTE capable phones sold for use on Verizon are not locked. If you're having a problem using it on a supported GSM carrier, then take it to the genius bar at an Apple Store in the US and have them check it.

Where exactly did you buy the phone you're having problems with? Did you buy a phone in the US with the intent of using it outside of the US?

i bought the phone from apple store, but meanwhile i had water damaged and they replaced me the phone with a phone that is apparently from verizon , phone that worked just fine in the usa with tmobile. but now i upgrade it to iphone 6s and i sent the phone to romania for my father to use it, but is not working.

i did some research and i found out that are other people with the same problem, and either apple or verizon couldn't do anything regarding that.

the fact that is bothering me the most is why in the world i got a verizon phone when i had sim free phone from apple store paid full price.

Look. Verizon phones are NOT locked. Why you believe you have a Verizon phone is beyond me.

What is the EXACT message your father is getting on the phone?

NO 3rd PARTY HAS LEGITIMATE ACCESS TO THAT INFORMATION. You've already been told that. What part of it is unclear to you.

The information you posted is completely meaningless.

    Contact Apple directly.

And it Is clearly wrong, because ALL VERIZON IPHONE MODELS 6 AND 6+ ARE UNLOCKED FOR USE WORLDWIDE.

What part of the sentence above don't you understand? The information you posted from whatever source you got it is totally worthless. Why don't you just call Apple and ask about the lock status of the phone, and, if what you say is correct about getting the original and replacement from a real Apple store, ask them to fix the problem?

maybe the information i got is  worthless but apple told me on their system is locked on verizon when i call verizon they say is not locked with them, so i got transfer from apple advisor to verizon and from verizon to apple with no results.

So you spoke to Apple and they said the phone is locked to Verizon, which makes no sense, because NO Verizon phones are locked. As you said you got the replacement phone from Apple why didn't you ask them to fix the problem they created? Or did you not get the replacement phone from Apple, but from shop that claimed to represent Apple? And where (what country) did you get the replacement phone? Apple would only have replaced it in the US, so if it was replaced anywhere else it was not replaced by Apple.

I Called them and they asked me to reset the phone and try to activate with Romanian network and is not working, I replaced the phone here in the us thru apple support for God sake, not with third party company, I have apple care they sent a new phone and when I got it I sent my broken one back to Apple what is so hard to understand?  And their senoir advisor have no clue about the problem they just ask me to reset the phone

Then make an appointment at the genius bar of a US Apple Store and take it in to have them check it. I'm sure they can straighten it out fairly quickly.

    Alin,

It's a simply a matter of activation policy as of many stated here, a glitch between apple and verizon, but Mr. Tim and Mr. Finch successfully ignore (it's hard to admit you wrong sometimes.. it's in our nature to be wrong and none of us is God). Here's the proof and what you should do: http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/verizon-iphone-6-6-plus-some-locked-against- international-use.1846197/page-8

gsd0, posted that you should try really hard to convince an apple representative to forward your problem to apple engineers that are in charge with activation policies, as many did the same thing and it's the only solution available.

    Salutari Alin & succes!
