I understand that you are not seeing your Photo Library located in iMovie ’08. Based on the version you are running, that will be the case. That does not mean that you are totally out of luck.
Photos compatibility was not introduced until iMovie 10.0.7, so all you would need to do is to upgrade to the latest version. Now depending on if you have iMovie '11 installed, you could upgrade for free. If the version that you currently have is the only upgrade, then you will need to purchase it.
