Q: Macbook Pro 10.6.8. Which OS should I upgrade to?

I own a 2011 MacBook pro running 10.6.8 X and would like to upgrade to a more recent operating system. Which one is recommended? Thank you.

Your MacBook Pro meets El Capitan v10.11 requirements. That is the latest OS X available for download at the App Store (free).

"MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or newer), (15-inch, Mid / Late 2007 or newer), (17-inch, Late 2007 or newer)he most recent which v10.11 El Capitan which is available for free from the App Store."

Very important to read this user tip prior to upgrading from Snow Leoaprd > Upgrading to 10.7 and above, don't forget Rosetta! | Apple Support Communities

Backup all important data prior to upgrading!
