Q: AT&T Wifi calling instantly drops incoming calls on 6s

Hello:

Activated my new 6s today and enabled WiFi calling via AT&T.

I can make outgoing calls on AT&T wifi, but incoming calls ring for less than a second, are dropped, and show up as missed calls. The person calling doesn't get voicemail and instead gets a fast busy signal

My brothers iPhone 6 works fine on the same network and can make and receive wifi calls.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

I had a call drop that I tried to answer on my mac via handoff. I've also been having a lot of calls drop or auto-switch from speakerphone using an AT&T 6s Plus. This happens moving around a small living room while maintaining a strong general wifi signal connection. I'm turning it off for now.

After 4 hours with two separate AT&T tech support folks, this was solved with a trip to the local AT&T store. Spent two hours with a really knowledgeable sales guy - we recreated the issue, switched out SIM cards, switched out phones and tried adjusting backend provisions and nothing fixed this issue. We had given up and were about to leave the store with guy basically saying "Wait it out, and it might get fixed as AT&T rolls out wi-fi calling".

The very last thing he tried finally worked: he contacted AT&T internal tech support who reset my account registration and OTA activation and that finally solved the issue.

Thanks for posting your solution as I had the same issue and you saved me a bunch of time. AT&T support were able to fix the issue with-in 5 minutes thanks to the guidance your post gave.

Dang, while it worked the day I did it ( had the AT&T CS call me and others ) the same symptom occurred the next day.

Spent 40 minutes talking to the techs on this issue...the issue appears to be on the Wi-Fi side so the 'solution' is:

Settings -> Wi-Fi -> then select the information icon for the network you are connected to -> 'Renew Lease'

this then resets the IP and everything seems to work ( had the AT&T rep call me from three separate numbers and I tried from a number of land lines and it seems to work.

Well whatever they did last time is still working so fingers crossed this is a closed item.

Thanks for this. I made the call and they resent my device Activation, as opposed to the OTA, but same end result. Thanks for sharing this and saving me half a day.

I was having the same issues AT&T Support over chat reset the OTA and Account Registration but that did not help. At the end they tried removing WIFI calling feature completely and then adding it back again and voila it started working thanks OP for sending me in the right direction as the support over the phone had no idea what was happening.
