Q: cannot install updates from app store
imac 2012, 2.7GHz i5, 8GB, Yosemite 10.10.2
After updating to Yosemite 10.10.1 the app store stopped installing system apps such as 10.10.2, iTunes, Hp and Epson updates, iMovies etc. I solved the 10.10.2 update by downloading and directly installing but the app store still did not not allow updates for security updates, iTunes etc.
App store lists the updates available, I click update, it says installing for 2 seconds, then says installed and lists the installed app under 'updates installed in the last 30days'. A few seconds later the app returns under 'updates available' as needing updating.
After trying verify and fix disk and verify and fix permissions without success, I reinstalled Yosemite 10.10.2 by using CMD R and selecting reinstall OS X, however the problem is exactly the same - I cannot update OS X software apps.
Any ideas?

Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/var/folders/zz
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
