Q: Airplay issue with El Capitan

Having a reliability issue while using airplay with el capitan to apple tv 3! it will either work after a long delay (and not turn off) or won't work at all. My iPhone 6S iOS 9.0.2 works fine with airplay and my home network is not an issue. Anyone else have this issue?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

I am having the same issue. I just updated my computer to El Capitan, and now my airplay won't work. I have updated iTunes and the ATV. I checked my firewall and it is off. I turned it on and put on the recommended settings, turned it back off, restarted the ATV and my computer and none of the changes matter. It will not give me the option in the display settings to turn airplay on. It just says off and has no option to say yes. I don't know what else to try......

    Similar issue.  Early 2011 13" MBP, 2.3 ghz I5, 8GB, 256GB SSD,

No firewall,  AT2  is up to date.

Airplay connects same way it worked with Mavericks and Yosemite.

After playing fine for 2-3 minutes,  the audio stays good, but the video has bad frame rate,

(it is more like a collection of still images)  and is 10+ seconds behind the audio.

after running this way for 20-30 minutes, it clears up to run flawlessly for a minute or two.

Then reverts back to the delayed, spotty, video with OK audio.

It shows constantly perfect on MBP screen which is being mirrored.

Same  content connects and runs fine from similar capability Mini. (running Mavericks)

Same issue here with a MBPR 15 (end 2013) and a ATV2. No firewall. MPBR connected to the 5Ghz wifi network (Time Capsule). ATV2 connected with an Ethernet cable to the Time Capsule (so I don't believe that the speed of the connection is a concern). Any clue?

Same issue here too. Since the upgrade to El Capitan, my MBP 13 (Early 2015) and ATV3 (w/ 7.2) just don't work. My iOS devices airplay nicely, but my MBP often fails discovering the ATV3, and when it does, it just does not mirror. I have another MBP with 10.10, and it connects flawlessly. 10.11 is broken.

Firewall is off. Everything is updated. Rebooted ATV3. There are no AirPlay restrictions enabled. No codes or passwords. I'm resorting back to VGA cables.

    This is frustrating.

My issue is the same as a lot of people here...since upgrading my MBP 13" Late 2011 to El Capitan, I cannot see my ATV2.  All I get is Airplay: Off.  If I go into preferences, I don't have any options to select other than off.

I use this a lot so I hope a fix can be found

Same as you, impossible to activate the Airplay option (another computer with Yosemite on the same network can see and mirror play on my ATV2).

Still nothing. I've since restarted and reinstalled 7.2 on my ATV3 no luck. This has to be a 10.11 issue. Prior to El Capitan, it worked flawlessly.

My other Macs running 10.10 have no issue at all.

Same for me. Since El Capitan, Airplay doesn't work anymore. Images are slow on Apple TV 3, which has been updated to latest version. Also my firewall is turned off. With Yosemite it used to work perfectly. Also my iPad  and iPhone work without problem on Apple TV.
Must be something wrong with el Capitan.

I am also having issues with Airplay once I updated to El Capitan. Once I click on the option to display my MBP, the TV goes black. I can play audio but no go on the video. Airplay works just fine with my husband's MBP that's running Yosemite. El Capitan is definitely the problem.

The  recent update of El Capitan fixed the issue for me. Hope this helps.

What type of setup do you have?

My MBP Early 2015 with El Capitan just doesn't work. I was really wishing the El Capitan update would resolve this Airplay issue...but to no avail.

The last El Capitan update did not fix the issue in my case (MBPR 15 2012 & ATV2)
