Q: All iPhoto data COPIED into Photos?
I have about 100GB of photos and videos saved in iPhoto. Then I updated my MacBook Pro and Photos has come out as the new apple application and I don’t use it because all my photos still show up in iPhoto and I can still get everything I need out of that application. But I noticed all my videos and photos come up in the Photos app as well. So did my laptop make a copy of all the photos and pics from iPhoto and put them in Photos, essentially wasting 100Gb of my HD space? Or are the photos and videos saved somewhere else, like a shared folder, and iPhoto and Photos simply work as Apps to view/edit videos and photos?

Nothing is copying your photos - one set of originals and previews are hard linked to two different libraries - and if you do not want to use Photos for now simply trash the Photos library and do not use Photos and you do not even have to read and understand this article (although it is not a bad thing to understand)
