Q: Apple ios 9.0.2 - WORST update ever!

Updating to ios 9.0.2 has been the single WORST experience on my iPhone 6+ or any iPhone for that matter!

1. Apps fail to update. When I tap the "update" or "update all" button, it just rolls around and goes back to the original "update" status!

2. When I restart my phone, my "settings" and other apps randomly open in the background when my phone restarts!

3. Apps are crashing left, right and centre!

4. Reminders are failing to be sent as before!

5. Push notifications are failing to be sent as before!

6. Phone freezes much more than it use to!

Why the **** does an "ios update" these days always mean incredible annoyance and endless frustration? It's like my phone has been hijacked by all these useless bugs and it's not even funny. Is someone seriously getting intoxicated at Apple and screwing things up with each ios update? What the **** is going on???

If you do factory restore after backup.. does this backup restore your apps you have bought and downloaded to your phone??

I can do backup for my contacts and 900 photos, my songs and videos but what about the apps???

am I going to have to rebuy them?

The apps are not part of the backup, but the backup includes a "table of contents" of the apps you had installed, so they will be reinstalled after the restore of the backup completes. In general you only have to buy apps once. You can redownload them at any time without having to pay for them again. If you have 2 or more iOS devices you can install the same app on all of them without having to pay again.

Works fine for you?  While I don;t have as many issues as the OP above, my 6s Plus is extremely buggy.  Portrait/Landscape often freezes.  Constant request to log into iTunes.  The OS is buggy.  Not sure how you can deny it

If that's the case, I'm screwed for the next 6 months till I get back to the states

Since you seem to know so much ... is it possible to just do a reinstall of the IOS 9.0.2 instead of doing complete restore of everything?  would be better solution

No, you cannot restore iOS without restoring the whole phone. Probably because iOS is just code, and if you are having problems it is most likely in data on your device, not in code, as 300 million phones all have the identical code, and the overwhelming majority of them have no problems or don't have your problem.

There's a couple TS steps you haven't mentioned:

    1) Check Settings > Cellular to see if Cellular Data is on, and Data Roaming is on. If those are off, a backup and restore would just put those back to off again.

    2) Contact your carrier. If a backup and restore didn't resolve the issue, it would most likely be a carrier problem, not a device issue.

I believe that was already established when I said it works fine for me.

As it does for me and my staff, no issues at all.

    So that's a +1

Right.  It's irrelevant that many people have as long as your tiny group doesn't

I suggest that you persevere in your belief that this is an endemic bug and (based on that assumption) you should buy something else.

You are right. I get an iPhone for my wife. She moved from old Android, that worked fine. Now she have an iPhone and phone app isn't working. Wonderful!

Reset and hard reset didn't helped us. Phone can call via Siri or Spotlight, but always stuck on phone app.

I think it's the other way around. The fact that a tiny group is having problems when many more people don't indicates it's an issue with those individual phones, not the OS.

Sure. Something like model+settings working for the group of the phones. But how it's help me? On the 9.0.1 it working good, on the 9.0.2 my wife can't use phone like a phone, only for internet and as ipod. I see reports about this problem from the 9.0.2 release day, but don't see any movements from Apple. Ofcouse, they doing this all the time. But thats not a normal relationships with customers. I love Apple marketing, but support is total fail.

So what did the Apple Store say when you took it in to be looked at?
