Q: Itunes help

I can't transfer or copy files from my seagate hard drive and am trying to set up my iTunes on my mac - I was on a PC when I first set up my iTunes account and now have a macbook Pro - all I ca get is my latest purchases on my iPhone . I get the message that I don't have permission is this due to it bing windows before? Any help would be appreciated thanks

    Hello Nortyjen,

    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. 

    I see that you have transferred your music from your PC to your MacBook Pro and are getting an error message asking you to authorize your computer for older music. 

    The most likely cause of this is that your older music was purchased using a different Apple ID than the more recent music. The following article will provide information on how to get your purchases authorized:

    If iTunes repeatedly prompts you to authorize your computer - Apple Support

    See the section on "Authorize your purchase with the correct account name"

    It was all purchased on the same Apple ID however after looking further it seems I need to change the permissions on my external hard drive - I only have read access which is strange as nobody had ever used this since I bought it except for myself. How do I change the permissions?
