Q: Can you import an entire sequence from Adobe premiere?

I'm thinking of switching over to FCX and was wondering can I import an entire project from Adobe Premiere into a timeline or do I have to start all over again?

The 30 day trial of FCPX is free. It's the whole program, nothing is locked.

To move a project from Premiere to FCPX you will beed to export as XML. Not difficult but the process is not reliable. The XML file would then import into FCPX and an attempt will be made to rebuild your timeline. If your program is at all complex, it's going to be a bumpy road.

And, you need to know before you start, FCPX is not much like Premiere. Apple decided to reinvent video editing. FCPX is a difficult application to wrap your head around at first.

There are tens of thousands of Premiere users who have switched to FCPX or have switched from FCPX. You can find them on the many Premiere user forums at Adobe and the creative cow. You might want to find their posts and maybe talk to them.

    You'll probably enjoy FCPX.

    Eventually.
