Q: Huge Battery Drain - Sleep vs. Hibernate vs. Off

I'm running the new Retina MacBook with Windows 10 and I am experiencing significant battery drains that are not consistent with the performance from Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista, etc. and am wondering if the culprit is Windows 10 or the fact that I'm running it on a MacBook. I don't use my notebook every day. It'll be in use for a day, then I'll not use it for 3 days, then I'll turn it on again. It's not my primary computer, it's what I use for work travel and on weekends at home.

In Sleep, I've historically lost 5% battery per day. Over the course of 3 days, it'll go from 100% down to 85% and its been that way on all my Sony notebooks since 1999.

In Hibernate, I've historically lost 2% battery per day. Go from 100% down to 97% if inactive for 3 days.

But with Windows 10 and my MacBook, I'm losing 15% battery per day in Sleep and 10% battery per day in Hibernate and that's a huge jump, a big loss of standby life and I'm not sure why.

Any thoughts? Is Windows 10 less efficient for a few days of inactive standby or is it my Mac?  Does Boot Camp lack certain drivers that render Windows power management less effective?  I'd love to just put my MacBook to Sleep just like my iOS devices, have instant wake-up, not bleed off battery this dramatically.

Thanks.

Do you have any external peripherals which stay connected when Windows is apparently 'Sleeping' or 'Hibernating'?

No.  Just the RMB in my backpack.  No peripherals.

With my decades of Windows native hardware (Sony, Acer, etc.) going to Sleep or into Hibernate had a single digit battery drain percentage daily.  With the RMB I'm losing 3x to 5x the battery each day in Sleep and Hibernate and I don't want to have to power Off each day as I lose the benefit of the quick re-boots.

I should also add that I have the right Windows 10 settings for Sleep and Hibernate.....like having USB ports 'off' during standby, having wi-fi off during standby, etc.  There's something about the RMB that's different than my past Windows native machines.

As a test, disable sleep and hibernate, and just close the lid and check the battery drain.
