Q: Textedit saves changes when I close without asking me
I am a frequent user of plain text documents in TextEdit. I've been using it since OS X 10.2 or so. Since upgrading (?) to El Capitan, I noticed that if I make a change (or many changes) in a TextEdit document, then close it (cmd-W), I am not asked if I want to save the changes - they are saved! What? I didn't want to save it, I would like to be asked when I close the document. When/why did this change, and why can't I find a preference to turn it off? It's very important to me that I don't modify a large amount of plain text without confirmation.
The documents I use are saved locally on my computer. I'm not using icloud documents that I know of.
Thanks for any tips!
