Q: call forwarding to another device

Hi There,

My family and I complete multiple backups to one ICloud account.

I recently received a new IPhone and did a backup and restore to the new device but since the backup has been completed my calls are going through to one of my family members - If I miss a call, it will go through to their device.

I have checked the call forward settings and it is off.

My network (Vodacom) and the other family member (Telkom) are not linked at all.

Please advise if this has happened before and how I can resolve this?

iPhone 5s, iOS 9.0.2

    Hi JessieWolfeCoote93,

I see you are a new user here in Apple Support Communities - welcome! I hope we find you contributing often in the future.

It sounds as if phone calls intended for your iPhone are going to other devices being used by your family as well. Is that correct?

From your description, it sounds as if you are using Continuity on your devices and sharing an Apple ID. What you are experiencing is a normal result of this. See this article on Continuity for an explanation - Use Continuity to connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac.

The best way to avoid this is for each person to use their own Apple ID on their devices. Each person who is going to use a new Apple ID can create it here - Apple - Apple ID.

Remove the old Apple ID from devices that will not be using it and sign in to the new one - Sign in with a different Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

If you are using the same Apple ID so that you can share content such as music, TV shows, and movies, the same thing can be accomplished for multiple Apple IDs using Family Sharing, which has a number of other benefits - Family Sharing.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Sincerely.
