Q: Photos not syncing (iOS 9 / watchOS 2)

After recently upgrading to iOS 9 on my iPhone 6; I noticed that photos were no longer being pushed to the watch (I am syncing the "All Photos" folder so the most recent are available on my Watch), and thought this might be an issue that will remedy itself with watchOS 2 or with a restore.

Since then, I had to trade out my iPhone for a refurb at the Apple Store, so went through the whole process of restoring the Watch from backup, etc. but this did not rectify the issue (it was still iOS 9, watchOS 1.0.1 at this point).

And now with watchOS 2 released to the public, with both being on charge the duration of last night, the photos still haven't appeared.  I've tried changing the folder, changing the amount of photos syncing, and I've tried boot cycling both devices. The photos are simply not syncing.  Other services such as apps, music, etc. are all fine.

Is this a common issue that anyone else is noticing? I'm sure when they were syncing under iOS 8 they slowly appeared once by one within photos – at the moment, I'm just getting "No Photos" in the Photos app on the watch, and "0 Photos" listed under usage in Settings.

Seems to be fixed in iOS 9.1. This is before updating to Watch OS 2.0.1 from 2.0, so it was an iOS issue after all.

Synced up to the 250 limit from the album All Photos, which has almost 10k photos.

Not working for me - in fact it's even worse!  Before the 9.1 & 2.0.1 update it would partially sync after a watch restart, however now I'm stuck with the same 6 photos from 'favourites' & no matter what they won't change.

    Awful!!

edit:  After a phone restart, everything seems to be working as it should & I have tested the 'all photos' syncing a few times with 500 photos.   Bravo!!!

OOctober 22 downloaded 9.1 not yet update to iOS 2.1. Looks like photo issue is ok now.  Attribute fix to this discussion you all had with Apple Support.  Thanks.

Got an email from Apple to call them a few days ago - been busy- , but have read these posts and installed iOS and watch os latest and it all seems ok with me (all photos set to 500 pics downloading as I type), even the Usage aspect of the watch app is working again. Churchil, just check your using latest iOS too. Restart both devices, then call Apple Support if you've no luck; they got it fixed for most of us it seems. Good luck.

@simonsbuysellit  Thnx, I'm using all the new updates. Synchronized one album, try to switch to all photos 500. Unfortunately no result. Also did reset both my iPhone and Watch.

    That's a shame!

I restarted mine twice I've remembered plus just noticed that it was only updating whilst the app was open on the iPhone for a awhile ; I'm sure that doesn't help you I'm sorry. im guessing you should call Apple Support (better to speak to someone than use the online thing in my opinion as it takes minutes rather than hours to progress through the checklist they'll ask you to follow). Good luck matey.  Hang on a minute... Just check this - make sure you aren't on the All Photos album when you restart the phone and watch, maybe try favourites, than once it's selected a different album then restart and choose All Photos. I seem to remember that working a month ago (not for long but it kind of got me unstuck I remember). Hope that makes sense. Worth a try I guess.

Syncing (All Photos) between the Apple Watch and the iPhone (6 Plus) used to work seamlessly for me when I first bought it, until the time when watchOS 2 was installed. I would take a photo with my phone, and it would instantly show up in my watch's photos app. Whoever is responoble for the sync code has a lot of bug fixing to do. :-(

only photos and folders that were on your phone before you synced your watch will work. That's what I have found. Please pass this info on.

I'm just "tuning" into this now.  Just uploaded latest software on my iPhone, and watch.   Now I cannot get my photo album on the watch to select a new permanent picture for the face of the watch.  I have tried unpairing the watch, to no avail.  I have a total of 12,000+ pics in my library, but only use Favorites album for the watch  - with 139 photos in favorites.  I increased the photo size to 500 on watch, thinking that might be ok but changed it back to 250 photos, hoping it would solve this issue.  Didn't.  I can select a picture - but it won't "keep" it - instead it rotates all the 139 pictures on the face of the watch.  I must be doing something wrong!  Anyone can guide me here?  Thanks much!
