Q: What are the basic speech to text commands?

I know how to turn on dictation but I don't know what the basic commands are.  Is there somewhere I can find the basic commands?  I know I can use 'period' and 'new line' but I don't know any other basic commands.  I am currently recovering from shoulder surgery and I can only use one hand to type so I thought this might be a better option.  By the way I've used dictation to type most of this question.  I am using Mavericks on an iMac. I think this is a wonderful tool.

You are welcome. The commands should be about the same. While the way to turn on dictation may have changed, hopefully the article will be enough to get you started. Upgrading your OS is up to you. If you haven't downloaded Yosemite from the App Store before, it is no longer available.
