Q: MBP 2013 crashes randomly

Already for a while, my MBP from early 2013 crashes randomly. It will suddenly shut down and restart automatically. I haven't found out when exactly this happens, it seems to happen at a random moment. I have a Dell monitor connected to the MBP.

If you have any suggestions, I would be very grateful.

The kernel panic suggests two possibilities.  GPU problems when connected to your monitor.  Disconnect it and see if the panics stop.

The other potential problem is Virtualbox.  Delete it and see if the panics stop.

The former is the more likely.

    Ciao.

Please disconnect the external display and see whether the panics stop.

    Dear Ogelthorpe and Linc Davis,

I've done both. I've used the external display every now and then, but both panics occur with and without the MBP being connected to the external display.

Due to problems copy-pasting the panic report, you can find it here if you want to have a look:

    Thanks in advance!

Disengage Virtual Box and see if the kernel panics stop.

Linc Davis may offer his insight here so wait and see if he will respond.  This is an area where he has more knowledge than I.

    Ciao.

    Thank you Ogelthorpe!

In fact, I thought that I had already uninstalled VirtualBox...however, I found a remaining VirtualBox folder in the Library. I removed that part now as well, so I hope it should be fixed now.

Unfortunately it did not solve the problem. Still, my MBP keeps on restarting regularly. What changed is that I don't have kernel panic reports anymore, but I get the following messages:

I will format my whole MBP and see whether that will help.

Furthermore, I have the feeling that SPSS is causing problems. I might simply uninstall it and see whether I can find an alternative.

I would suggest reinstalling OS X. Just download an Installer and make a bootable USB Create a bootable installer for OS X - Apple Support.Boot and then select Install OS X. That may clear up any bugs.  without deleting data.

    You are confused.

NO ONE wants to download a mystery file from Dropbox.

If you cannot paste your report here, use pastebin.

You are right Grant Bennet-Alder, though the post you refer to is already a while ago and not applicable anymore since I don't encounter kernel panics anymore. Anyway, I will NEVER do that again.

That's why I now copy-pasted the latest messages after my MBP restarted (without my command). I don't know what to look for, since I don't get kernel panic reports anymore. No messages show up after restarting. The MBP just restarts.
