Q: Migration Assistant: Does the data transferred disappear from the PC it is transferred from

New to Mac Mini & all of Mac. Does the data transferred disappear from the PC it is transferred from?  I could not find this information in the article about the Migration Assistant.  I need to know if the files and settings I transfer will be copied to the new Mac or if they will be taken away from the PC.  In other words when the migration assistant is finished  will my files still be there on my old PC?  The word 'transfer' to me, means to take from one place and put in a another place.  Please advise.  Thanking you
