Q: Severe wifi connection problems after 10.10.4 update

The 10.10.4 update has caused severe wifi problems. My computer will not stay connected to wifi for more than a few minutes and is very slow when connected. To reconnect, the wifi must to be turned off and on again in order to reconnect. It is also not connecting to the network after coming out of sleep. I have reset the PRAM, set up a network location, restarted network and router. Is there anything else I can do to fix for this problem?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Might be corrupted network preferences. It can happen after an update.

Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

Type or copy paste the following:

    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration

Click Go then move all the files in the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.

Restart your Mac. See if that makes a difference.

Your Mac will generate a new SystemConfiguration folder for you.

I’m using an MacBook Air mid 2011, after update to OS X 10.10.4 Mail app hang when I try to open it. This issue is solved if I connect McBook Air with ethernet cable and disable WI-FI.

After read your post I trashed SystemConfiguration folder; this solves my problem.

I had the same delay in getting onto the internet, it took five minutes or more to get onto a website so I called Apple and after one very nice tekkie tried lots of things she passed me along to her supervisor Taylor who did all the things described above, we trashed the system configuration folder and immediately the problem was solved and the internet connection is instantaneous. I had upgraded to Yosemite but have not upgraded to El Capitan yet (I'm afraid of more problems!)
