Q: Ipad 2 passcode is forgotten. Find My IPhone is evil.

I Have a Wifi-Only IPad 2 that is still running on one of the versions of iOS 7.  After a year I have forgotten my passcode. I cannot connect it to wifi because I can't get in.  When I try to restore a backup it tells me to go on the device and turn off Find My IPhone. Obviously I can't do that.

So I went to iCloud online and removed it from the list. A device activation lock check tells me it is not locked, yet iTunes still insists that I need to turn it off.

Help!  I'm going insane and APPLE is ABSOLUTELY no help unless I pay them a $30 "Paper Fee" And I'm not paying $30 for help with this because the device isn't even worth that much anymore.

You can also try the Recovery/DFU mode in case the aforementioned solution doesn't work.

You should keep in mind, however, that such actions will remove the data stored on your iPad.

    Recovery Mode:

Turn your device off, then plug it to your computer with the home button pressed. Keep the Home button pressed until you see the iTunes logo on the screen of your device. After that on your computer you should see the iTunes window saying your device needs to be restored to factory settings. Click on the restore button.

    DFU Mode:

    • Connect your device to your computer using a USB cable.
    • Turn off the device.
    • Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds
    • Press the Home button while holding the Power button and hold both for 10 seconds.
    • Release the Power button, but KEEP HOLDING the Home button.
    • After about 15 seconds, iTunes will tell you it has detected a device in Recovery Mode.
    • Restore your device
