Go back to iPhoto from where?   Did you recently upgrade to El Capitan and migrate your iPhoto Library to the new Photos.app on your Mac?

To be running iPhoto on a Mac with MacOS X 10.10.3 or later you need to update iPhoto to version iPhoto 9.6.1. That is not easy, now that Apple stopped selling iPhoto.

See this User Tip how to update by reinstalling.    Get iPhoto 9.6.1 if you didn't update before OS... | Apple Support Communities

In addition to updating to the latest iPhoto version, you need to restore the last iPhoto version you had from your backup.  If you did not delete the iPhoto Library after migrating it to Photos, you can simply double-click the library to open it in iPhoto. If you see a warning that the library has been migrated, click the "Open iPhoto" button.
