Q: Upgraded bootcamp to Windows 10, now partition can't be found

Hello.

So I upgraded my bootcamp from Windows 7 to Windows 10 today. After the installation it started, low-res but working. But when I booted back to the mac side to get the boot camp drivers for windows it disappeared and will no longer show when holding down ALT during boot up.

The files are there on the second partition in finder on the mac side so things should be dandy, but I can't start the partition. Does anybody know what I should do? I run the latest El capitan public beta so I guess errors like this are to be expected and if Im beyond saving I guess I only have myself to blame, but it would be great if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

/Daniel

Please download GPT Fdisk http://sourceforge.net/projects/gptfdisk/ . The following is a from W8.1 with Gdisk 0.8 in the Downloads directory. You will need to run gdisk32 (or gdisk64) in a Admin Command Windows with the command gdisk32.exe 0: . The second parameter is the digit zero followed by a colon. Once you are in the Gdisk prompt, type 'p' to print the GPT partition table and post the output.

Let me preface this by saying that I'm so sorry for being slow (I am not a techy person at all).

I downloaded GPT Fdisk and run gdisk64 (and I also tried gdisk32 with the same result) and run the program.

I copied pasted your instructions which appeared fine but when I click <enter> the program shuts down.

I wonder if that's the because it says: "Type device filename, or press <Enter> to exit:".

So again, sorry for being so slow, but how do I execute the commands?

    Thanks in advance!

    Type 0: at this prompt.

I did it but without pressing <enter> it just hangs there.  Is something meant to happen when I type "0:" ?

    Thanks again for your patience!

Your partitions are intact. If you shutdown your Mac and power using the Alt/Option key, what selections do you see?

    hello,

This happens because of the system integrity protection.

    1. you should boot in recovery mode (CMD+R at boot or just choose recovery at boot menu),

    2. then from Utilities menu chose Terminal.

    3. enter the following command: csrutil disable; reboot.

After reboot you have the rights to fix the MBR.
