Q: Updating to final iOS 9.1 from public beta

Hello folks,

This is my first question to the community.

I have the Public beta of iOS 9.1 installed on my iPhone 6S and now that the final version of iOS 9.1 has been released, I just had a simple question on the right way of installing this final version.

Would an OTA update be sufficient or do I have to follow the procedure of connecting to iTunes and updating my iPhone through the recovery option?

I assume that the OTA update should be sufficient, but would like to hear from the more experienced folks out there.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I installed the iOS 9.1 public beta, and now the final release is out. I started to get a warning about the beta, telling me to update to the latest version.  I tried going into Settings to do the update and it said "Your software is up to date" or something.

I did a google search and wanted to just put the final version on.  The site I found said to do a backup in iTunes, followed by a device restore (holding down power and home button etc etc), which I did.  However, now I believe I am still on the beta 'train' and my phone is not at iOS 9.1 final.   I am now getting a warning about "A new iOS update is now available.  Please update from the iOS 9 beta."  I tried going into Settings to do the update, and it now says that there is an iOS 9.2 Beta 4 available for update.  So I guess I'm still not on the final/non-beta train.

Can someone explain this to me?  How can I get back to the final?  I might just stay at the beta, but I'm confused how to go to final if I wanted to.

If I understand this correctly, if you don't have a backup of a final release, you're out of luck. (?)  Which is my situation.

    Thanks,

    Tom

What version of ios is on your device now? If you are on 9.1 I think you can follow these instructions: Download the final version of iOS If you have an iOS beta version and want to download the final version, follow these steps: Connect your device to iTunes. While your device is connected, force it to restart. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. Don't release when you see the Apple logo. Keep holding until you see the Recovery Mode screen.     When asked, choose Update to download and install the latest nonbeta version of iOS.     An update install won't affect your content or settings.
