Q: finder search returns more than it should?

I have a search set up in finder restricted to only Search: "Dropbox" for files last opened and modified before a certain date. Every single file on the computer that matches the date criteria is being returned even though the search is restricted to Dropbox. What can I do to get this to work? I'm ready to buy a utility that will allow me to search my computer the way I desire, not the way Apple dictates. What do you recommend? 10.8.5 (I know).

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

To clarify what I wrote, there are definitely files that may have been in nested under Dropbox but were moved to a different folder. But a search still shows them as being under Dropbox. I got carried away with the "every file that meets the criteria." Not so. Is there something special about Dropbox? I have put only files in that folder.

Please disregard, I see what it is now. Something created an alias under Dropbox that points to a different location.
