I understand that you're seeing a X show up on your battery icon. Let's see if we can sort that out.

It was not problem with assist and glad we could help.
I also noticed that you said that your MacBook Pro was running slow. That could be one of many things, like a process that is using to much CPU or that you are using up most of your Ram. Here are a few things to look at to figure that part out as well.
