Q: Cannot install Camera Raw Compatibility Update 6.17 driver?
I use a Panasonic FZ300 camera. It is one of the 5 cameras listed in this new update. I shoot both in RAW and jpg format. Photos are automatically brought into the Photos app and are clearly indicated with an icon in the lower left corner that they are both RAW and jpg files. When I open a photo with the editor, and click IMAGE - "use raw as original" I get an error message as follows: Photos cannot switch to the original because the RAW is unsupported.
My iMac says I have an update ready to download in the App Store. When I click the UPDATE button to download the latest "Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.17", nothing happens. I have restarted my iMac and now it shows that this update has been installed, yet I still cannot open a RAW file in Photos Edit.
And I am still showing that there is one update to be installed on the App Store icon on my dock.
I have installed the newest El Capitan update. I have read about issues with past iPhotos and Aperture, but those do not apply to my iMac. This is a brand new computer system, purchased 3 months ago, originally had Yosemite, never used iPhotos.
What's wrong?

Try to download the update from Apple's Downloads page and install it manually:
https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1844?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Just download the update installer, double-click it and run the updater.
