Oct 25, 2015 8:11 PM in response to Aces88by Carolyn Samit,Open System Preferences > Users & Groups then select the Password tab.
Make sure Admin is elected on the left.
Then click: Change Password the click Change Password one more time then type in the old password the new one you just created then type it again in Verify and type in a password hint. (That can be very handy in the future if you forget your password) then click Change Password.

Oct 30, 2015 8:45 AM in response to Eric Rootby Aces88,Eric I tried to wipe the mac completely so went into recovery mode I believe, but options were greyed out so when I turned off and on again it just loaded up like normal. I'm really not sure what I can do as the key chain issue is making the mac unusable and I can't wipe it to sell it!
