Q: Latest OS X update broke my Mac Book Air
Today I accepted a suggestion from a popup on my screen to update OSX (security), Safari, and, iTunes.
After the update was completed, the machine refused to reboot. I had to go to the repair disk. The hard drive checked out fine, I repaired some permissions, and still no joy. Finally I resotred my hard drive from my Time Machine (portable hard drive). This got me running, at the cost of a few files lost containing work from the last 3 days....
I would think this was just a nasty coincidence, but THE SAME THING happened to me about 2 weeks ago. That time I elected to leave my hard drive untouched and restored OSX over the internet. That took more than 6 HOURS! So this time I decided to go the Time Machine route.
Can anyone explain why this is happening?
The only fact that I can come up with is that I am outside the US (Costa Rica). Is there any reason why this might be relevant?
I would be grateful for an explanation, otherwise there is a serious problem with the update mechanism.
Thanks,
Lola
