Q: help please with bootcamp ISO on macbook air 11" 2015
will mac tech help me out with boot camp if i am within my 60 days or whatever?
anyway, OK. first off i admit it. every time i go to do a windows installation using boot camp i feel like i'm from the stone age and can never get this to work on my own.
so - i have a new 2015 11" macbook air and a mac pro and a windows 8 install disk and various USB sticks.
i /have/ previously created a driver USB disk for windows 8 when i did my mac pro installation of boot camp but i am not really sure if i need to create a NEW ONE when i do the install routine on the macbook air.
ALSO, i put the disk into the mac pro and tried to make an ISO on the USB to do the install on the air but i am not sure i understand this. i got to the point where i created the file on the desktop by selecting the CR ROM (i assume this is correct) and then i got to the point where i changed the file extension from cdr to iso. however, i seem to have one or two iso files on the desktop and when i try to EJECT the USB i don't think this is happening. i guess i should delete these other ones?
WHAT SHOULD i see on the USB with the iso file extension?
also, WHY is the air giving me an error telling me it does not see anything compatible to do the install?
FINALLY - am i correct in only selecting the LAT option in the boot camp dialog box?
OR do i also need to check the second box to download drivers for THIS computer (i mean, can i just use the one i created for the mac pro).
AND do i need to check the first option?
i'm obviously at a lost...
THANKS
MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), 11 inch, early 2015, 2.2 GHz Core 7
