Q: EXTREMELY slow at loading pages on either Safari or Chrome..Is this normal?

I just purchased the MacBook Pro..It has

2.2Ghz quad-core Intel Core i7 with 6MB L3 cache (Turbo Boost up to 3.4Ghz)

16 GB of 1600MHz DDr3L SDRAM

256GB of storage

Intel Iris Pro Graphics

Retina Display: 15.4

With all that should it take 20-25 seconds to load a page on the internet. I could to to Apple.com (20 secs to load) then click laptops (another 20 sec to load) click MacBook Pro (another 20 seconds to load. It does not matter what website I go to or what I click on...it takes an extremely long time to load.

Is this Normal????

If you have a broadband high speed internet connection, your browsers should load webpages immediately.

Have you installed any third party software since purchasing your Mac?

This is my 3rd time trying to respond to you. It keeps timing out. We do have Broadband and my HP computer runs amazing on the internet. The only thing I have downloaded is Chrome...the only reason I did is because Safari was running so slow and taking forever to load pages so I thought I would try another search engine. I'm not sure what to do? Could it be I got a dud or is this how Apple computers work ( i have never owned one).

Thanks so much for your help..I greatly appreciate it!

I have only owned the computer for 2 days!

Yes, that is perfectly normal, ...

... when your Domain Name Server (DNS) numbers are not set up correctly;

Non-responsive DNS server or invalid DNS configuration can cause long delay before webpages load - Apple Support

Hi,
Thanks for the article..very helpful! Do you know of an app that I can test my DNS server to see which ones are faster? I tried the Google DNS 8.8.8.8 and it seems to have helped but I wanted to see if there were other ones to even have it speed up more.

Google DNS and Open DNS are good if you are located in the US.

In the regions, you may be better off with the numbers provided to you by your ISP.
