Q: How do I reinstall a failed Thunderbolt Firmware update?

I attempted to install the recent Thunderbolt Firmware update, but it failed. Probably due to my Macbook Pro being closed, but I've confirmed the update did not install and yet it's showing as installed in my App Store updates. How do I reinstall the update?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Have you tried doing the download again from the Purchased menu in iTunes?

I hadn't, but I just checked and the update is not listed on the Purchased tab in the App Store. It only shows on the Updates tab.

Sometimes these firmware updates manage to install themselves anyway, despite our mistakes.

Check your installed version against this master list, which has 'live' download links that can be applied if needed:

Just what was the firmware update for?
Is there an update number?
What says it is not installed?

Thunderbolt Firmware update 1.2. When I boot up my MacBook Pro it come up with a warning message that the update wasn't installed. Also under the System Report the Thunderbolt Firmware version is supposed to be 26.x and it's still 25.1
