Q: iPhone cellular call error

I had been using the iPhone cellular call feature (Continuity i guess) on my Mac running Yosemite until I updated my iPhone 5 to 9.0.2 from 8.4. Then it stopped working. I tried to reactivate the feature by ticking the 'iPhone cellular call' button in Facetime but as soon as I tick that a dialogue box appears claiming my phone and mac should be signed into same iCloud ID. I have been using the same ID since a long time and I don't know why this error has come up. Do I need to update to El Capitan for it to work?

    Hey coolyash10,

I understand that since updating your iPhone's operating system to iOS 9.0.2 you have been unalbe to use iPhone cellular calls on your Mac. When you try to turn on iPhone cellular calls you get a dialog telling you that both devices must be signed in to the same iCloud account, but both devcies are using the same account. Is that correct?

To answer your last question first - No, it is not necessary to use El Capitan for this to work. System requirements for Continuity include Yosemite. See this article - System requirements for Continuity on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac.

To use your Mac for phone calls, make sure that all the following conditions are met (from Use Continuity to connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac.):

With Continuity, you can make and receive cellular phone calls from your iPad, iPod touch, or Mac when your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi network.

To make and receive phone calls, here's what you need:

    1. Sign in to the same iCloud account on all your devices, including your Mac.
    2. Your iPhone and your iPad or iPod touch need to use iOS 8 or later. Your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
    3. All devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
    4. All devices must be signed in to FaceTime using the same iCloud account. This means any device that shares your Apple ID will get your phone calls. Look below for instructions on how to turn off iPhone cellular calls.
    5. Wi-Fi Calling needs to be off. Go to Settings > Phone. If you see Wi-Fi Calling, turn it off.

    Happy computing.

    Hey pedro d,

Yes, when i try to turn on iPhone cellular calls I get a dialogue telling me that both the devices must be signed in to the same iCloud account, but both devices are using the same account. I recently got a new iPad air 2 and got the same problem there as well. Maybe its something with the iPhone itself? This is really frustrating and I need the continuity feature really bad on my Mac. Any help would be great.
