Oct 26, 2015 7:31 PM in response to H Gagneby H Gagne,Another "little" discovery ...
Had to factory reset my iPhone6 this evening in order to re-enable Voice Control (not SIRI) as the IOS 9.1 update broke the functionality - several threads floating around on this subject and the suggested *ways* to fix it yielded no results.
... after resetting the iPhone /w IOS 9.1, the Notes are automatically upgraded to the "new" Notes format. In my case, a Restore Backup re-introduced the Voice Control problem so I'm having to re-configure my device/app settings manually.
Fun times.

Hi to all,
well sometimes it's just like this. Upgrades are Worsegrades — in tooo many cases.
A working solution to still sync Outlook Notes with your iPone6 or whatever is a third party Software
called CompanionLink. Use the Windows Desktop version as well as the app on your iphone and
you can sync Outlook Contacts, Calendar, Notes and even Tasks.
It's a **** pity, that they have changed the old functionality, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrh!
Sometimes the Software engineers have no clue on the requirements of the user. They seem to
program from another planet, I'm from Switzerland, cheers.

Oct 27, 2015 11:45 AM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby QNimb,On a lighter note (sic)....
There must be something to be said for holding on to older technology! Apart from a slight hiccup a few weeks ago when the content of all Notes transfered to
a long string, sorted by manually separating, I am still able to sync Notes between PC and iPhone and iPad. All software is at latest update.
Here in the UK my latest iTunes update is at 12.1.3.6. I have an iPhone 4 with IOS 7.1.2, the latest version I believe it will ever get; an iPad 4 with IOS 9.1; and a PC with Windows XP SP3 and Outlook 2007. A big kettle provides all the necessary steam.....
On iTunes the tick box is available with my iPhone connected but is not visible with iPad connected, although as I say Notes sync fine between both devices and the PC.
I sync and backup regularly using cables to my PC; my children have taught me this lesson as they don't and have lost 'everything' on several occasions!
Given the frustration vented in previous threads, I think I will be holding out with these 'older' devices for as long as possible!

Oct 27, 2015 2:12 PM in response to QNimbby allismd,WARNING: iOS9.1 doesn't even permit the work around any more. The team that decided not to support full syncing of Notes are not in touch with users' needs. When upgrades become downgrades your lose TRUST, which is rarely regained.
A shout to TC: Not all iPhone users just take selfies/snapchat etc. Some of us use our phones with our jobs. Do you want to grow your business users or just sell to teenagers?
Finally, whoever decided to do this is a tosser and should be tossed out of AAPL.

Oct 27, 2015 2:26 PM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby billy3sticks,Hello,
No amount of whining or complaining will get Apple to change their ways. After all, they are the smartest company on earth. Also, why would they want to help out those of us who use "the other guys" products (Microsoft).
Even before this latest idiocy from Apple, you couldn't easily use the Notes synced from Outlook
on your iPhone because they were all sorted by date!! Who EVER sorts that way, especially something like Notes!!
I did find an Outlook way around this issue by putting all of my Notes into Outlook as Contacts.
Open Notes and copy everything from one of your Notes.
Open Contacts and add a "New Contact", pasting the info you just copied into the Notes area,
In the "Full Name" box put in "NOTE - Car-Info" or "NOTE - Recipes" or whatever the name of your note is making sure that if you have a multi word name, you join all the words with a dash "-".
Go to the "File as:" box and make sure that you choose the option that starts with the word "Note" and not the option that does not start with "NOTE".
After you finish this tedious, mind-numbing task, you are left with many Outlook contacts that all start with "NOTE -" and will all be grouped alphabetically when you search using "NOTE", either in Outlook or on your iPhone.
It works but it is rather labor intensive to convert to this method!

Oct 27, 2015 4:53 PM in response to billy3sticksby wrnrp123,At least a month ago, after writing a letter to Tim Cook and his two VIP engineers, I was contacted by one of his staff on the telephone. I discussed the issue for about 30 minutes; yet nothing has been done by Apple. I have solved MY problem by putting my 2000 lines of Outlook Notes into various Contacts. All of this is documented in this Forum.

Oct 28, 2015 7:08 AM in response to billy3sticksby allismd,Two follow up items:
I am testing AkrutoSync and like it so far. I still sync Contacts, Calendar through iTunes, but use AkrutoSync only for my Notes. Once you've set it up, its works perfectly.
A thought to the folks at AAPL: If it ain't broke don't fix it! The sensible thing to do in this instance would be to restore the full syncing functionality as under iOS 8 and create a NEW app for doodles, etc. Simples....everbody's happy.

Oct 28, 2015 7:25 AM in response to allismdby iUS18,I agree completely. I also should add that Apple's non-response to this problem is very disappointing. I am interested in any comments from those using the AkrutoSync solution because that is direction I am going to head as well. Please advise of any shortcomings to be aware of, but I have lost confidence in iTunes (permanently, I'm afraid). My greatest fear is that Apple's current path will completely destroy the ability to seamlessly use the iPhone and Outlook as we have in the past, and as much as I love my iPhone, that is a game-ender for me because I have to be able to manage my business operations with my mobile device and it is looking less like the iPhone will be appropriate for that.

Oct 28, 2015 8:11 AM in response to allismdby 540perry,That's right, a separate app for doodles! Just like Palm had 10 years ago! It ain't that hard, boys.
I now miss my old Palm TX, that integrated perfectly with Office, had categories, 10+ years of easily searchable calendar, etc. When it comes to the business user, Apple seems to be on a race to the bottom.

Oct 28, 2015 8:29 AM in response to iUS18by twduffy,Been using AkrutoSync for a month now with no issues. Been keeping my Notes, Calendar and Contacts synced with no issues. I no longer use iTunes at all, no reason to. apple can go suck wind.....
-
Oct 28, 2015 9:49 AM in response to twduffyby Phil_from_Gideon-IT,I wanted to try AkrutoSync but despite dozens of emails to their support I could not get it working on my Windows 7 laptop. The iPhone could never see the pseudo-Exchange server.

Oct 28, 2015 1:20 PM in response to 540perryby gadgetphan,I miss my Palm too! Palm Desktop was fast and had just the right features. No bloat. Always wished Apple adopted it and integrated it.

Oct 28, 2015 1:24 PM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby gadgetphan,That's odd. I have the same setup plus an Android tablet.
-
Oct 29, 2015 1:24 AM in response to iUS18by pepeidolioquintanilla,I use Akruto and it works well with exchange (although no cable communication, only wifi and internet, unfortunatedly).
Even they sync "tasks" of outlook with the "reminder" of iOS (remember that at the beginnings of iOS not even a "remiders" or "tasks" was included.
In conclusion: Apple is loosing its objectives. It is very funny for musing, but is NOT for professional jobs. If you want something more professional, go to Android or other options, as they don't care about this niche...and you're in danger to loose a lot of relevant data for you in just an update, without any announcement...
You simply update and...surpriiiiiise...!!!

Oct 29, 2015 1:34 AM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby Phil_from_Gideon-IT,Well it looks like it may NOT be Apple's fault. It appears Microsoft have deprecated 'Notes' in Outlook 2013 and presumably in 2016 (although I've not installed that yet to check).
We're all meant to migrate to OneNote on our devices now it's free.
Here's a how to guide. So it looks like, as is common these day, we're required to use the cloud; like it or not.
