Oct 29, 2015 4:35 PM in response to alexpaby Duane,★HelpfulDoes the MacBook Pro work via Target Disk Mode? If so, you can connect it to another Mac and use Disk Utility to erase the hard drive.
If the MacBook Pro is completely broken, I would remove the hard drive. If the hard drive still works, I would use an external enclosure to recover any useful information or erase/reformat the drive.

Oct 29, 2015 4:40 PM in response to Duaneby alexpa,Thank you, Duane. That makes sense. Not sure what Target Disk Mode is, but I'll try to find out. I bought a new Macbook Pro, so maybe I can use that to erase the hard drive on the old one. The problem with the old one (2007) is that the hard drive works, but the screen does not work at all, so there's no way to actually use it beyond turning it on.
