Oct 29, 2015 7:11 AM in response to Blurby brenden dv,Hi Blur,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your .Mac email address. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on what exactly you are seeing or describing; it may be helpful to gather a bit more information. When .Mac was rolled in to MobileMe and then iCloud, the previous addresses were maintained as aliases of the new primary account. This means that although you would set up your iCloud email account on your device, you should also receive email sent to your previous @mac.com and @me.com email addresses (so long as you didn't delete the aliases at any point). Is this how you have your devices configured? If not, how are they currently set up (both the ones that are working as expected, and the ones that are not)?
Thanks

Thanks for your reply. I was composing a detailed description of the problem. I went to another part of the Apple site, and when I returned, all was gone. #@%$#. Anyway, the last thing I tried on my iMac enabled me to get the internet account set up, unfortunately, unable to verify the account / password. I'm not sure it is actually connecting to the server.
connection doctor is of no help. I don't want to reset the password for .mac since 3 devices (macbook pro, iPhone 5s and 1st generation iPad) can get mail with the password that I tried to enter here. My .mac mail is my primary mail account. I can't afford to lose it somewhere in the ether.
Thanks,
Blur

Oct 29, 2015 2:15 PM in response to Blurby gregory202,If your mac address was properly transferred during 2012 "mobile me to icloud move" then the only thing you do wrong is setting up your mail as mac. You need to set it up with icloud (cause that is the actual server that Apple is using) and your mac mail will come automatically.

Oct 29, 2015 3:05 PM in response to gregory202by Blur,Hi Gregory,
Unfortunately, I have tried that. And, my iCloud login uses my hotmail account email as my login and as my iCloud address (not sure why I can't change that). If I try to access my name.icloud.com to set it up, which is already set up, it says "Name already taken". I guess in the original rollout for iCloud, you could enter any ID you wanted, but that became unchangeable, and, though there were many attempts by Genius bar gurus, inaccessible. I wish it were that simple. Any other suggestions?
Thanks, Blur

Contact Apple support on the phone. Two people here gave you the same answer, reason you unable to continue with that is either
1. You may have more then one account.
2. You never transferred your Mac mail to icloud
Apple support will be able to verify either of those and provide you with corresponding instructions.
"Genius bar guru" - mind if I use it - funny, really funny.

Thanks. I think the problem is that I have 2 accounts, and I can't access the one that is associated with my .mac alias. I got caught in the inexorable imorphing that Apple has mastered over the years. You can't ever get too complacent.
You are welcome to use anything that I have said.
Again, thanks for you analysis.

Oct 30, 2015 3:59 AM in response to Blurby gregory202,Welcome and good luck. Just try to find a patient person on the phone when you call. Just like any "guru" they are limited in time to work with one
customer and situation with multi ID's is sometimes hard to untie.
