Dec 29, 2014 8:51 AM in response to dkindle1by Jeisenberg,I just got my phone yesterday, and set the passcode to one I know I remember and have not changed it. Today I wake up and the passcode will not work, and in a edition I cannot factory restore without find my iPhone being turned off, which I can't do if I cannot get into the phone.

Dec 29, 2014 9:10 AM in response to Jeisenbergby bunbun124,Hold down the power button for 10 seconds, it should then ask if you want to power it down. Again, if you synched to iTunes before you can skip the recovery process and just enter in your password.
Plug your phone into your computer, open iTunes, wait a few seconds and once you see your phone connected to iTunes, go ahead and enter your password in (While it's still plugged into your computer).
This should allow you to unlock your phone using your passcode without a recovery. IF actually just forgot your password and don't remember it, you'll have to go through the recovery steps.

Incorrect. You can disable Find My iPhone via www.cloud.com.

Dec 29, 2014 11:12 AM in response to bunbun124by Jeisenberg,Thanks I did the DFU mode recovery as a last resort, I just figured maybe there was a way to do it without having to do that. As to turning off find my iPhone on iCloud.com, I don't know how that is done because i never was given the option. I tried to take it off my account but it seemingly did nothing.

Dec 30, 2014 3:45 PM in response to dkindle1by floraknitingale,Just happened to my GF - phone was working fine this morning, a short flight later it won't accept passcode or finger print. Powering off etc. did not resolve it. No recent updates or anything that could account for the change. Cell service provider tech support "has never heard of this happening" but they are going to erase the phone.

May 17, 2015 12:40 PM in response to dkindle1by sbutc,I had this same problem. And the fingerprint wasn't working. I randomly tried my passcode twice and hit enter (instead of 1234, it was 12341234). It worked. I don't get it, but it worked, when nothing else on here was working. It got me in and the fingerprint started working again. I had to use this double passcode in settings to get it changed back to the original too

Oct 30, 2015 7:05 AM in response to dkindle1by Alcuria,This has happened to me as well this morning.
I had used the iPhone last evening (voice and data) around 9:00 Pm.
When I woke up this morning, I pressed the Touch ID and the screen reported that I had to re-enter the passcode since more than 48 hours had elapsed from the last time I unlocked the iPhone. How could 48 hours elapse if I last used the phone last evening?
I then entered the password (and I know it's correct as I use the same password on another iOS device) and the password does not work. After having to wait one minute after having so many failed password attempts, I called Apple Support.
I have a backup of the phone from September when I upgraded to iOS 9, and I never rely on an iOS device as a "backing store" for Messages (use a MacBook for that) so I would lose at most 30-45 days of images (no problems there), but something is not working properly.
Apple Support will be calling me back and will report back.

Oct 30, 2015 7:13 AM in response to Alcuriaby Alcuria,Just a couple more items.
1) I went to get my phone this morning after I missed a call. The phone (obviously) was on.
2) For the last week or so, I keep getting a message saying that the latest update of iOS is ready to install and would I like to install or later. I have always responded that I would like to do the install later.
3) Additionally after 3-4 failed password attempts, I did power cycle the phone.
But clearly, something is not operating properly, as per Apple article on Touch ID:
About Touch ID security on iPhone and iPad - Apple Support
That "your passcode will be needed for additional security validation
- After restarting your device
- When more than 48 hours have elapsed from the last time you unlocked your device
- To enter the Touch ID & Passcode setting"
The phone was on this morning when this started, and 48 hours had not elapsed since the last time I unlocked the iPhone.

Oct 30, 2015 10:13 AM in response to Alcuriaby Alcuria,Talked to the Apple person that called me back.
He said he has heard of the more-than-48-housr-since-phone-unlicked message coming up when in fact 48 hours has not elapsed.
But really am out of options at this point. I actually have my passcode written down and verified that I am entering the correct passcode.
So will do a restore.
This underscores 1) The importance of backups and 2) consider making sure that important (for me it is Messages) are sent off to another device to provide a backup.
But still a serious problem with a 1) iOS reporting that 48 hours have elapsed since the iOS device has been unlocked and 2) a known good working passcode no longer working.

Nov 24, 2015 6:41 PM in response to dkindle1by C_M_C,I literally am having the same issue. I created my new password and finger recognition an hour ago and now it doesn't recognize my finger or password although I had to type it in 4 times.... and its the same code I use for everything else... I have had the 6s plus for 2 weeks and also am having the issue where it randomly completely dies fully charged and has to be completely reset. SO FRUSTRATED AND OVER IT.

Nov 29, 2015 7:36 AM in response to dkindle1by James L K,This started happening to me today and I have only had my iPhone 6S for about 2 months. I know I didn't forget my passcode/PIN. I'm pretty sure nothing will work, because this is a bug.
I guess I'll have to reset/restore... I've been using iPhones since the 3GS and iOS 9 is by far the buggiest, least improved iOS I have used.
Apple needs to prioritize this bug. It's like being hacked, but worse, since no one actually hacked you.
