Q: Annotation of A Photo

Anyone know of a utility or add in to annotate photos directly in Photos app?

Looking for text annotation primarily

I know that I can export and annotate externally, but am looking to modify photo directly within Photos.

Thanks

None of the currently available Photos extensions can do that.  Until more editing extensions will be available that offer graphics compositing, you'll have to export your photos to add text annotations.

The available extensions are all dealing with effects and retouching:

    • Noiseless is installelled by the Noiseless.app of MacPhun and offers very versatile noise reduction adjustments.
    • BeFunky Express is installing an extension for fixing portraits: skin smoothing, brighten eyes, etc. plus a very good HRD filter.
    • Affinity Retouching is installed by Affinity Photos, a very good retouching and in-painting tool .
    • Snapsheal is also a MacPhun extension for image restauration and enhancement.
    • Intensify by MacPhun will install an extension for spectacular color effects and HDR.
    • Pixelmator Distort  comes with the most recent Pixelmator update and creates amusing distortion effects, but unfortunately no lens correction adjustments or similar useful.
    • Tonality by MacPhun has great black-and-white effects, but I have not tried it.

    Thanks.  Just as I suspected.

Where can I find those extensions?

Where can I find those extensions?

These extensions are installed by the applications I listed. Buy one of the applications I named, and they will install an extension, so you can use some of the functionality directly from Photos.

You buy the apps from the Mac App Store, or update them to the latest versions, if you already own an earlier version.

The apps can do much more than what is available in the extension, e.g. Affinity Photos offers only the Retouch Tool, or Pixelmator only the distortion tool.  The MacPhun apps are currently leading, and most of what the stand-alone MacPhun apps can do is also available in the extension.

    You're welcome.

I hope, we will be seeing editing extension for text and other graphics operations soon, watermarks, frames, text, etc.

I'm catching up Léonie, despite very low bandwidth.  But I see I have to upgrade to El Capitan to get the Befunky.  And there is no way I'm going to be able to jump to El Captitan on the 'high plateau' here.  It's a 1.25 hour drive to Telluride to find a café with a powerful enough link.

    Which I may just do.

Thanks for all the help ...

    Ben

I would not  risk the upgrade on a slow internet or without the backup drives available, so you could make a full backup of your system before the upgrade.

I wish you a successful photo shooting. Bring back spectacular photos from the Colorado plateau!
