Oct 30, 2015 12:39 PM in response to le.bouchby musicaddictedCT,IIt's a shame they've actually made the new Apple TV less functional

Oct 30, 2015 12:41 PM in response to musicaddictedCTby le.bouch,I have to agree. I've only had it a few hours but so far am completely underwhelmed. I have two Apple TV3's and was looking forward to this new one.
In the real world it doesn't seem to do much more than my Apple TV3's

Oct 30, 2015 12:56 PM in response to le.bouchby Paul Barrett3,Yes something that splits HDMI to SPDIF (fibre optic) if your stereo has that input. If not then personally I would not use the analogue outputs on the splitter unless I new its DACs were have decent, or I was just using low-fi sources like youtube. Instead I would use take the SPDIF to a decent DAC (Digital Analogue Convertor). They can be expensive, but needn't be. This particular little DAC (specifically this x4 model) is raved about on various forums as being a complete giant killer http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Muse-HIFI-DIR9001-TDA1543x4-DAC-PC-Decoder-Parallel-Co nverter-Sound-Card-/171785463608?hash=it…
Of course there are others that are similar.
Another way is to use an airport express as a "speaker" and use its analogue or digital audio output to link to the amplifier. Again I personally would take a SPDIF signal from an airport express and convert it using a decent converter as above.
But yes agree, this is all extra cash, and we have paid a lot more for less functionality so far.

You got exactly what you paid for, if it does not do what you want why did you buy it?

Oct 30, 2015 4:21 PM in response to Csound1by Paul Barrett3,Yes I got what I paid for. That is just stating the obvious. I simply pointed out that for a more expensive model it lacks the same basic connective functionality. Fair comment? Unless you believe we should never be critical of anything we ever purchase?

Oct 30, 2015 4:23 PM in response to Paul Barrett3by Csound1,Thanks for your opinion, why don't you tell Apple that it does not meet your expectations, we can't change that so your pleas are going nowhere here.

Oct 30, 2015 4:45 PM in response to Csound1by Paul Barrett3,I haven't asked for anything or made any pleas on this thread. Just as you clearly do, other people feel free to express their thoughts and opinions.
Please try and understand that your posts are a contradiction. To follow your own advice, if you don't like the posts, please don't waste your time reading them or answering. Find some other posts that better fit your world view and make you happier. Life is just to short.
Thanks

Oct 30, 2015 6:21 PM in response to Paul Barrett3by Csound1,Don't tell me what I should and should not do, such arrogance will get you nowhere. If you don't like the product don't buy it, the spec is clearly marked and it is your choice to purchase.

Oct 30, 2015 6:39 PM in response to Csound1by Paul Barrett3,Please understand, your last post was exactly the contradiction I spoke of. You say I shouldn't tell you what to do, and then you tell me what to do. It just comes across as a bit trollish. And to be honest, its also trolling to post things like "You got exactly what you paid for, if it does not do what you want why did you buy it?", when neither I nor the OP have said it doesn't do what I want. The OP asked a simple, practical question and I made a simple, answer an gave a simple, practical observation. The posts are about a little electrical box and you and the previous poster decide its a an opportunity to stupidly have a go at people. No offence intended, but try being a little nicer. Goodnight.

Oct 30, 2015 7:01 PM in response to Paul Barrett3by Csound1,Quote the line that contains the text you mistake as "telling you what to do"
I simply laid out a course of action to deal with a product that does not do what you want, it's a choice, not a command.
"No offence intended"
I take offense at anyone calling me stupid, and I have a low opinion of those who when discourse fails them resort to insult. The refuge of a small mind.

If you have a better idea go for it.
But you don't, how sad.
