Oct 31, 2015 5:29 AM in response to alexmac27by Aidan Johnston,Hi,
My new 1.2Ghz Retina MacBook died last week and I had to take it to the Glasgow Apple Store for repair. It wouldn't start up at all, turns out the issue was the logic board and it was replaced.
Yours is the only other case I can see where a similar incident has occurred and I wonder how widespread this fault is?

Oct 31, 2015 5:40 AM in response to alexmac27by FreelancerJerachi,You can run diagnostics on it by starting it up with Option and D held in, might at least give you a starting point for troubleshooting with them when you get there. Make sure the charger is plugged in when you do this, so you don't get any false positives.

Nov 1, 2015 4:33 AM in response to FreelancerJerachiby alexmac27,I've now solved the issue!
I was using a sleeve with a magnetic latch closure and was using the machine sat on top of the sleeve. this was clearly causing the machine to think the lid was still closed and prevent wake from sleep/boot. I've now stopped using the sleeve and the issue has gone!

Dec 28, 2015 10:28 AM in response to alexmac27by emilyb94,I've been having the same problem, and I'm going to try to avoid the sleeve while the computer is in use - thanks! But I also had trouble getting the machine started up while I was in the Apple Store, when the magnetic sleeve was NOT sitting underneath the computer, so I'll have to wait and see how things develop.

Dec 28, 2015 6:38 PM in response to alexmac27by Allison Sheridan,Oh my gosh - you saved me!!! I had the exact same problem yesterday and I blamed the little USB-C adapter I'd just bought. I was sitting at a table with my Macbook and the screen suddenly went black and would NOT come back on! I gave up on it and carried it to another room and later it woke up just fine. And again it died when I plugged that adapter back in (on top of my InCase magnetic-closure case.
The crazy thing was I switched to my husband's Macbook and the SAME thing happened to it! It would be fine, and then suddenly go black when I moved it suddenly. I couldn't think for the life of me what caused BOTH Macs to fail at the same time. And of course he has the InCase magnetic closure case as well.
I'm so happy I could virtually kiss you alexmac27!!! I will talk about this on my podcast for sure and give you credit for the discovery. I'm going to tell InCase as well so maybe they can warn people. Curious if you used the same case as me?
