Oct 31, 2015 12:43 PM in response to Curlygeeby Andrew G Eronimo,I am having this same issue on a 13" 2015 Macbook Pro Retina. The update has now failed to complete downloading at least 10 times, and three times when it appeared to complete, I got this error that the update could not be verified during the install (as far as I can tell, the update has never downloaded without having to restart the download, and this might be why the verification fails, although the download appeared to restart OK). Two other Macs in the house (2009 Mac Mini and 2014 Mac Mini) have updated just fine -- however another difference is that the Minis are on Ethernet and the Macbook is updating via WiFi. I tried setting the Macbook right next to the wifi router to make sure it had a good wifi connection, but still no joy.
Apple: Is there a way to download this update on another computer? It appears that once the update has been installed on a given computer, the installer is erased. Is that true, or is it still around somewhere? I tried looking for the update installer on one of the Mac Minis between downloading it and installing it (it's over a gigabyte, which means that it takes several hours to download across DSL), but even with the help of several Mac-related forums, I was never able to find the installer on the machine -- or at least if I found it I wasn't able to identify it as such. I had been able to share the OS X 10.11 El Capitan download among the three Macs in the house -- the installer was in the Applications folder.

Nov 1, 2015 9:15 AM in response to Andrew G Eronimoby Andrew G Eronimo,OK this DID work:
1. Download the OS X 10.11.1 update from the above link, using Chrome browser on Mac Mini
2. Move the .dmg file to a public folder on the Mac Mini
3. Copy the .dmg file to the Macbook Pro across the wifi in the house
4. Open the .dmg file, double-click on the .pkg file inside.
5. Wait about 20 minutes for the install to finish.
All seems to be well on the Macbook Pro at this point.

Dec 14, 2015 5:11 PM in response to Curlygeeby Curlygee,For closure, I waited a while to re-try the update. On the fifth day I figured I try it again and it worked perfectly. No problems.
Not a very satisfying answer to why this happens in the first place! Thanks to Andrew for the diligent responses.
