Q: Safari 9.0.1 not displaying some images from some websites

Hi, I am running Safari 9.0.1. on a Macbook Air 13, OS X Yosemite. Since my update a couple of days ago, I cannot display image - links from some websites.

Roll-over effects display correctly, but when left alone the images just won't display.

I can see the same images properly with Chrome and Firefox, and I see them correctly if I change the user agent from the developer menu. Images just won't display when user agent is the latest version of Safari. A friend of mine that did not update Safari yet, can see all images properly.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

What extensions have you loaded on in Safari?

Only extension on my safari is the Pinterest Pin It button. Same as I had in previous versions of Safari.

Why don't you turn the Pinterest pin off.  Restart Safari, and see if there's any improvement.

(It could be it's not updated to run with the new Safari).

Did you look at the list provided by Linc above?  And did you do the things recommended there?

Hi, I followed the steps suggested in the article, but this does not solve the problem. Deletion of cookies + cache empty were actually my first steps before logging this question... I disabled the one extension I had, but nothing changes.

I confirm what pjacome says, it seems to happen with wordpress sites.

Try www.holidaysdream.it for example, with Safari 9.0.1. their image links in the page are invisible (except for mouse rollover) and even the google map in the homepage is hidden except for the map markers, while for example the sliders are working properly. If I switch to another user agent, the site displays perfectly. It displays perfectly on Chrome, Firefox and Opera as well.

    Thanks, Stefania

I could not get that site to render properly with any user agent, but regardless, it's an incompatibility between the site code and Safari. That's why it's useful to have more than one browser.

    Thanks,

since Safari 9.0.1. is apparently the only browser with this problem (did not notice any issue with 9.0), maybe Apple will want to know... I'll try to log this to Apple support.

    This might explain the problems:

    http://www.hugedomains.com/domain_profile.cfm?d=holidaysdream&e=com

I'm having no problems with Safari 9.0.1.  I would suggest it's that site, not Safari.

(If the domain is really for sale, I'd look elsewhere for your vacation plans.)

    All the best!

It's not the website. IT IS APPLE AND SAFARI! I can no  longer log into chase, other sites, etc. I use firefox, works perfectly. Sorry, IT IS WAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE APPLE NOW!

I have found out the problem. It was the Apple Time server not being correctly set and a change in time due to day light savings in another country and time zone. So to anyone with these issues, check your time server (date and time settings) and make sure you have the correct time and zone being displayed on your computer or iPhone for that matter.  Although I still think this is ridiculous that only Safari has this issue, Firefox does not, I apologize for saying APPLE was solely the problem here. Yet, a time change shouldn't affect and make go havoc a web browser. It doesn't for Firefox or Chrome.

    tahsali --

I had no problems with the time change and Safari.  It's something on your machine, either a setting gone awry, or a third-party app or extension.

    Just my two cents.

At any rate, I'm very happy you're all sorted now.

It was the Apple Time server not being correctly set

    Hi,

for clarity, the issue raised here is not related to time changes and is still not solved.

As specified in the title, the issue here is about Safari 9.0.1. hiding images containing links, only in some websites.

It applies only to some Wordpress sites - the example I provided (holidaysdream.it, not .com!) is still there, showing the same hidden images.

I tend to believe that Linc Davis is correct, and the issue is with Safari 9.0.1. being no longer compatible with the website code. I am further researching the issue to understand which Wordpress plugins and / or themes are involved.
