Q: I want to be able to see my screen saver photos on my TV connected to Apple TV.  How do I do that?

I bought an AppleTV and it is connected to our TV.  I want to see the photos that exist on my iMac streaming on the TV set. I do not want to upload to the iCloud if I do not have to.   How do I accomplish what I want?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), iPad1 OS 5.1.1, AppleTV OS 6.0

Go to iTunes on your computer - select File: Set to on, etc. Home Sharing: Select Photos to Share

then, on tv, go to Settings: Screen Saver: Select Photos --> your Library and Screen Savers - the

bottom choice, Classic, lets you determine dwell time of image onscreen.

    Good luck, Tom

Hello Tom, With the information you provided, which was excellent advise, I realized what my problem is, and I don't know how to solve it, if there is a solution.

I have 2 iMacs; one is "the main" one up in my study, and the other one is my "music" iMac which is located where the living room and terrace is. This particular iMac does NOT have APPLE ID as I download all  music, etc from the STUDY iMac.  Now, the AppleTV is connected to my TV set on my terrace and the closest iMac happens to be the "music" iMac.

OK; so if I select "Home Sharing" on the "music" iMac it will not locate the AppleTV as the AppleTV picks up my "Study" iMac. But then, AirPlay will pick up what is happening on the Study iMac, which I don't want.

I would like to be able to connect the Music iMac to the AppleTV without an Apple ID if at all possible or will I have to "bite the bullet" and obtain an AppleID for the "music" iMac also?

If I have to, can I SHARE the photos from my Study iMac [which does have an AppleID]  to the AppleTV ......  and ONLY share that?  I don't happen to be too wild about the iCloud.

Hope I'm not troubling you too much with all this.

    Richard

Dear rb - your ID goes with you, not a particular Mac. You can sign in

to the Music Mac and access tv from there - if that's what you're asking.

You should also be able to share the photos in the study at the same time

as the Macs w/b sharing the library. Hope this helps, Tom
