Or iPhone 5s and above , ipad 3rd gen above or just iPad Air and above. The Apple commmite answered my question. Any Apple product with iOS 9 and above should be fully compatible. So and ipod touch would not be compatible

It's still not clear what you mean by "compatible"? What are you trying to do? Other than set up and use Airplay, there's not much you can do with an iOS and an AppleTV 4.

What are you expecting it to do? What do you mean by "work with"? If I recall correctly, the iPhone 4 supports Airplay.

The only thing it wouldn't do is let you do the iPhone set up. However, you can set up the Apple TV manually. You don't need any iOS device to use the Apple TV 4.
