Nov 1, 2015 5:58 AM in response to Meg St._Clairby harris3,At least I know that now, but it's been opened before this. The way it looks now.......I can go to a local repair shop and pay around $109.00 to fix.

Pretty is all well and good. Functional is better. But, it's too late for that.

Nov 1, 2015 6:19 AM in response to harris3by cubcougar,I think you can still get the 5s/32 at $149 from the Apple Store ... new in the box and toss in Apple Care since on the face of it you are still a bit heavy handed with your electronic devices.
Downside on a that purchase like with the more pricey 6 or 6s is that Verizon wants minimum $1000 a year to make it operate ($70 a month plus fees, tax, etc).
If you do get the 5s which is economy in mind ... effort not to update the iOS from what you have delivered to you has the iOS 8.4 and up is really bad for that model in eating up battery storage .. there is a work around by turning everything off except for the cellular data switch to the Settings App which will put the 5s model battery usage at 1% per hour standby.
That being said ... the serial number on all your Apple Products you purchase are available at your Apple ID Profile accessed over the internet.
If you can get to the Apple Support community to ask this question .. just a few key clicks away is your ID profile for that serial number information.

That price is with a new two-year contract. That may not be an option the OP has available or is interested in.

Nov 1, 2015 9:32 AM in response to harris3by cubcougar,I am guessing you are not seeing your Apple Profile page either ... once you sign in with your Apple ID.
Your profile is deeper into the security system ... past your Apple ID you use to sign into iTunes and Apple Support Community.
In your Profile page .. are listed all your past Apple purchases with their serial numbers.
Of course my iMac was sold in 2013 and my iPhone sold in 2015 ... so it just might be a fairly recent improvement over this decade.
But ... if you do not have a Apple Profile .. then you have to create one ... once done .. then soon thereafter (about one business day) the system will list your purchases with the serial numbers.
The learning curve is a bit flat at first with Apple stuff .. but it does pick up after a while.
