Q: FCP X Integration with Apple Maps

Maps Fly-throughs for locations and location for one point to another within FCP X/Motion should be available within FCP X/Motion. These technologies should be integrated it into fcpx/motion?

It would be a life saver for anyone working in news and a way into the news room for data visualization.

WWould be great, but I think you're running into serious copyright issues. Apple doesn't seem to own map content.

Provided you've secured the rights to do so (http://www.apple.com/legal/intellectual-property/rightsandpermissions.html [and you must according to the Terms of Use http://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/maps/terms-en.html — "You must not c) reproduce..."]) it's fairly easy to screen capture the flyover video. If you want to capture from your iPhone, connect the iPhone to your Mac with the lightning cable. Open Quicktime X. Select File > New Movie Recording. If your iPhone screen does not appear, there is a small 'v' mark to the right of the Record button. Click on that and select your iPhone from the Camera list. If you want to do a "voiceover", select a mic and set the quality to Maximum. Start recording just before starting the flyover.

If you're using Apple Maps from your desktop/laptop, you can still use Quicktime X to record the flyover, but instead of selecting New Movie Recording, select New Screen Recording. Prior to starting the animation in Maps, click the Record button. You will be presented with the option to record the entire screen or you can drag a rectangle around a region of your screen. Outline the Maps viewport, click the Start Recording button and proceed to the end. To stop recording in this mode, there's a stop button that appears on the right side menubar (small circle with a black square in the center.) When you click that you'll get a preview window. Close the window, you'll be asked to save the video before closing. You may *opt* to Export the movie (and you'll have several resolution options available [default res seems to be 1136x640]).  Save to a convenient location. Import into FCPX. You might have to deal with Spatial Conform settings and/or cropping, particularly if you were using the non-phone version.

I still think Apple should integrate apple technologies into FCP x?  They have the resources and ability to put the mapping technology to ur use..

It would be an Incredible improvement...   With Maps, With numbers for Charts etc.....

Resources should be available to us and make FCP X better!!!!!

In the Final Cut Pro menu, is a link to the feedback page, where you can request feature enhancements.  If enough folks ask for it, it gets closer to being done.  But I seriously am not sure how many FCPX users need this.  Just do screen movies or still shots and bring those into FCPX.
