Nov 1, 2015 9:53 AM in response to ditchiedooby BobHarris,Mountain Lion 10.8 can still be purchased

Apple will mail you are redemption code that you can then use in the App Store to download Mountain Lion.
Mavericks is not longer available for new installs. If you previously downloaded Mavericks, then you can get it again via the App Store -> Purchases tab (this is also true for Yosemite).
If you wish to have the option of downloading El Capitan in the future, then download it now, and quit the installer. It will be stored in Applications -> Install OS X El Capitan and you can use it in the future if you desire, and if nothing changes in the App Store, El Capitan will also be available in the future under your Purchases tab.
As a general rule of thumb, ALWAYS download the current OS X version at least once while it is available to keep your future options open.
