Q: If I copy photos do the lose some resolution ?

so I've got a new Mac and I've copied some photos onto an external drive.... But on my new Mac they seem to have lost resolution....and become pixelated in appearance ...what have  I done wrong....

the pictures are from iPhoto to photos

    How did you copy them? The best way to get full resolution is to use the file->export function and set kind to "original".

     

    If you are starting fresh on a new Mac with no images in Photos, you can just copy over the iPhoto Library.

    THank you for that.... I copied the iPhoto album and placed them in photos. But I think I may do as you suggest and Exporat the original instead thank you.

    If you copy an iPhoto Library the resolution of the photos should stay the same, if you open the copied library in Photos.

    How did you open the copied library in Photos? Did you drag it onto the Photos icon?
