Q: since el capitan: wake from sleep: keyb. unresponsive, screen stays black, must reset

since i upgraded to 10.11 i sometimes cannot wake from sleep my macbook 12" retina. the keyboard is fully unresponsive, and the screen stays black, i have to wait 12h until it restarts itself or press power button for 10sec. then it reboots with error "wake from sleep issue - send to apple?

i now disabled hibernation mode with terminal, removed flash and disabled all safari extensions to try a fix of this sleep issue:

sudo pmset standby 0

sudo pmset autopoweroff 0

and sleep image removal by:

sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage

thanks for help

    Hi there peppermint,

It sounds like your computer isn't waking when it should after you try to wake it with the keyboard and/or mouse. I would use these steps from the following article since I don't see they've been done yet:

If your Mac doesn't sleep or wake when expected

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204760

These additional steps may help identify or resolve the issue:

    • Reset the SMC.
    • Reset NVRAM.
    • Disconnect external devices other than your Apple keyboard, mouse, and display. If that resolves the issue, gradually reconnect your devices, testing each time, until you find the device that is interfering with sleep. Then check the documentation that came with the device, or contact the device manufacturer.
    • Start up in Safe Mode to see if the issue is related to non-Apple startup items, login items, or kernel extensions.
    • Try to isolate the issue by using another user account

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
